Guide to Urban Moonshining: How to Make and Drink Whiskey

Guide to Urban Moonshine: How to Make and Drink WhiskeyI was lucky enough to get a copy of "Guide to Urban Moonshining: How to Make and Drink Whiskey". This book really gives you an education on whiskey, and keeps it interesting.

The book is well researched, and starts by explaining what whiskey really is, and giving a nice history of it, going back to when america was settled. It gives some special focus to prohibition and the effect that had on the alcohol industry as a whole. It explains the differences between the types of whiskey out there and the brewing process, even constrasting the difference between other alcohols. Pertnered with a lot of great imagery, it's really able to show you everything being talked about. The book lastly follows up with recipes and instructions how you can safely make your own whiskey from home.

One of my favorite things about this book is all of the data it provides. Charts showing aging, charts showing the branches of whiskey. If you want to impress your friends because you can identify a rye whiskey vs a wheat whiskey, this book is a great place to start.

The authors of this book mix in their own personality and experience while telling you everything there is to know about whiskey. They don't get overly burried in the details, but keep everything moving along at a really nice pace. If you're interested about whiskey at all, "Guide to Urban Moonshining: How to Make and Drink Whiskey" is a great place to start.
